- Everything is signed off!!
Ok
with some time off work, its about time I got some serious
building done.
First
up is riveting the flaps together for the final time. Took
the morning to do the right and left flap. A little care is
required on the hinge side so as there is no twist or damage and
the hinge pin will run thoroughly smoothly.
Setting the top side rivets requires a slightly angled bucking bar
to get the manufactured head straight. The one made in the
the small tungsten bucking bar was ideal.

After
some lunch I put together the right aileron. Setting the top
spar rivets is tricky but doable with the small tungsten bar and
quite a bit of arm twisting. This is the bit that takes the
time with the aileron especially if you are setting them on your
own like I was.
The
end ribs go on without a hitch really, and so do all the blind
rivets that require setting as well as the aileron closes up.
The brackets can also be put on now; some duralac required between
the dissimilar metals. Torque up the bolts and marked as per
other bolts I had done.
Then I
could not resist mounting the aileron temporarily to see what it
would look like. I think I stared at it for quite some time
!!
